Dr. Zohair Al Halees is one of the most prominent and advanced cardiac surgeons in the Arab world. Astonishingly, he has performed over 20,000 major heart operations on adult and pediatric patients. His enduring passion remains to serve children with heart problems, mainly from underprivileged backgrounds. His current focus is on congenital heart effects incidence and outcomes in Saudi Arabia, as well as performing cutting-edge work on stem-cell transplantation. Dr. Zohair’s reputation for helping the poor, desperate and needy outshines his reputation for having extremely skilled hands. Much of his professional activities have centered around King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center, where he helped establish the cardiovascular diseases department. Under his tenure as Director, the center has evolved into the prestigious King Faisal Heart Institute, the region’s premier cardiovascular treatment facility. He was appointed as assistant professor at the American University of Beirut Medical School, where he continues to undertake complex cardiac surgeries. He has performed live demonstrations of cardiac procedures from the operating room to the audience at national and international symposia he has participated in. Dr. Zohair sits on various editorial boards of leading peer-reviewed cardiac publications, more notably the World Journal for Pediatric and Congenital Heart Surgery.
