Basma Alsulaiman, born in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, earned a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and a diploma in Modern and Contemporary Art from Christie’s. She is the founder of BASMOCA, the world's first virtual museum utilizing advanced visual technologies to broaden access to her collection. A stalwart supporter of the arts, Alsulaiman co-founded the Saudi Art Council and initiated the Jeddah Sculpture Park. In 2014, she became the first Saudi woman honored by the Saudi Government for her cultural contributions. Alsulaiman passionately collects international and Middle Eastern contemporary art, with a keen focus on Saudi artists. Her collection, including seminal pieces showcased at the 2022 "What Lies Within" exhibition in AlUla, reflects her commitment to promoting Saudi talent. Revered as both a visionary and a leading patron of Middle Eastern art, she has lent works to global exhibitions and contributed to prestigious permanent collections, including The Metropolitan Museum of Art and The Smithsonian.
